Travel down.

	Every trip starts with renting a car.		Our first views of the mountains, with surprising amounts of new snow...
	Marie is using my smaller McHale pack.		Goats near our hotel in Bishop.

Day 1

	Driving up to the trail head.		We started hiking at 9,000 ft, and found a lot of snow.
			Snowy tight switchbacks.
	First night camp.

Day2

	Very cold morning. I figure low teens.
	But we soon hit the sun and were warm.		Beautiful hiking, at times.
			Above Echo lake.
	The snow made most of the travel very difficult.		The col we are heading to is the U shaped notch to the right.
	3pm, 2 hours of light left, and we decide that we won't make it this day.		Camp at 12,000 ft on a small platform on this ridge.
