Day 13: Halfmoon Bay and Hot Springs Cove (Maquinna Marine Provincial Park)

We had a leisurely start to the day, and made it into our boats by 9:30 for the short paddle to the hot springs. The extended shore-talk included much discussion about what to wear, exactly. The results were somewhat conical, and we elected not to photograph the result. We all wore our cagoules over the shorts we would use in the hot springs, so we were decent, it just didn't look that way.

We had learned that commercial operators would drop visitors off starting at 11 am. We figure that out early start would give is a good crack at the pools before the unwashed masses arrived (too many unwashed would have been bad).

Tom, Nelson and I landed on this beach, and hiked to the boardwalk. David rejected it, and found a nicer landing; he got to experience more of the boardwalk but as a result spent less time parboiling. There were a few earlier birds already soaking when we arrived, but we all fitted and got down to business. We all escaped at about 11:30, as the first two loads of water-taxis deliveries finished their boardwalk. I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

Back at camp, Nelson practiced levitating rocks.

We placed empty fuel canisters below so that when he lost the levitation, which did happen a few times, the canisters would be crushed for recycling.
