Day 14: Clayocot Sound

ue to rain and south wind, we plan a mid-day start. The rain lasts longer than expected. At noon, it is either pack and go or too late. We pack. And the rain has stopped.

We do have a headwind paddling around the north and west sides of Flores Island. Slow going. Skies are clearing and as we turn into Cow Bay there’s a slight tail wind for us.

We collect questionable water from the creek at Res Rocks and meet some backpackers.

We cross Clayocot Sound to land the north end of Ahous Bay shortly before 8 p.m. Kampp is disappointing. Colin has some choice words for mosquitoes and the sand.

The sand is particularly bad. It sticks easily. It is difficult to wipe off. I have found the number one technique to keep sand off my equipment is to not drop it in the sand. I find this much harder to effect than it would seem.
