# Day 22: Providence Cove

Up early..ish and on the water. We complete our transition of the West Coast Trail section of the Pacific Rim Park. A place that made no provision for sea kayakers and where we weren’t really wanted. So we moved through it quickly.

After 22 nautical miles, we stopped at Providence Cove for a short break. Looking around, I think it would be quite a good campsite. We stay. We are feeling quite good about this camp. Clean cobbles rising well above the high tide. Then Colin walks up the trail to the main trail where he sees no camping sign for our cove. Well, another place where we are not wanted. I understand the reason for these management decisions, but they make it difficult for us to paddle this coast.

David observes we’re on schedule to make it to Anacortes by Friday, perhaps with a stealth camp below the highest high tide line but above the actual high tide at a park outside of Victoria. I have not been enjoying these long days and I’m thinking of how to go slower through the section of coast that I’ve never seen before and likely will never paddle again. So, I propose an alternate schedule and openness to splitting the group according to desired schedule. But we don’t discuss further.
