# Day 25: Rest Day in Sooke

We all slept a little longer than usual today. There was a discussion last night about heading in to town for breakfast, but we didn't come to a firm decision. And we were still here past breakfast time so Tom tried to boil some water, and failed; the gas canister that seemed quite full at Jordan River, was now quite empty. So, our breakfast fate decided, we headed to town in pursuit of brunch, and fuel.

'Mom's Cafe' was recommended by the campsite office staff, but we found it middling (Nelson's order was messed up, and his replacement order was messed up in a different way). We moved on to the supermarket for a desert, and then to the hardware store for gas (success!). As we walked back to camp we realized that our plan to procure a beer for our last two nights on the water had been forgotten.

As we relaxed at camp we hatched plan for the rest of the day. The Sooke Region Museum & Visitor Centre was only 10 mins away, and there was a framers market tonight, so we'd investigate it, and try to get dinner there. And unfortunate turn in the weather drove us out of camp early

Having reviewed the weather data, we secured camp and made a dash to the 'closest' shelter. I was having fun, Tom was talking the whole effort quite seriously, Nelson was not demonstrating much urgency.

so we approached the museum via a circuitous route that happened past a brewery (that story has been told already). We all enjoyed some baked goods from the farmers market, and we're uniformly impressed with the museum.

We found a lighthouse that had been moved here from Triangle Island, off Cape Scott, and had a good chat with a retired Coast Guard carpenter who was performing docent duties. The Fresnel lens was impressive.

The mostly outdoor museum contained lots of info about logging. It's worth a stop if you are ever passing through Sooke.
