# Day 8: Whales and aliens

Alarm at 6am and launch by 8:15 without effort. We are faster for practice

During breakfast 5 orca appear about 100-200 meters off shore. I worry for the sea otters.

Launch and cross 6nm to Nookto. Swell is running 10 to 20 decimeters. This limits access to the shore.

We pass the remains of a crashed alien vessel.

Here’s the alien probe we saw two days ago, forgot to send.

All the tech has been stripped out and the hulls left.

strange that aliens would be so active along this coast. But, they are alien, we can’t expect to understand their priorities.

Land at 3 rd beach. Spectacular wild place. Good surf waves. Signs of people recently but no one now.

Back out. Wind is building. Sails up. Dynamic progress. When over shallows the waves stand to a full story high.
