Packing and Travel

	Packing the food.		Joe packing gear.
	Our gear at home.		Marie renting our car.
	REI was closed, but the Fred Meyer across the stree met all of our needs.		Driving south.
	We had lunch at "Mom's"		Our first views of the canyons as we cross the Boulder Mountains.
	Aspins.		The whole Aspin Grove.
	Poll Corral Draw. 15 years ago I drove past this sign and thought to my self "What's a draw?"		First pitch of our tent. It's a simple pyramid with a floor which hooks to the top but does not seal.
	We hiked to the top of some rock domes in the evening.		Joe on the domes.
	Deer Creek and rock Dome. I think I took the same picture 12 years ago.		A wall which I also took a picture of 12 years ago.
	This is the campground that I stayed in 12 years ago.		The tent at night.

Our hike starts.

	Loading packs for the first time. Last minute gear decisions.		Joe with climit control gear in place.
	Driving out of the Deer Creek campground.		This is us at the start of the hike.
	Looking back on the road as it cuts down into long canyon.		The route described hiking along a "bench". Joe asked what it was so I took this picture. It was nice being in the shade.

	The first canyon we actually hiked into.		Approaching a pass in a slickrock ridge.

	Marie found this arrowhead. We left it in the sand at the pass.		From the pass we hiked up this slope and over the ridge.
	View of the slick rock world we entered.		The first pothole of water we passed. They were particularly GREEN.
	Hiking down a slick rock wash.

The first day was long. We didn't camp until deep twilight. We pitched the tent on slick rock and held it up with rocks we gathered from near by. Next morning, as I moved a rock to tighten up the tent this scorpion crawled out. First scropion I've seen in the desert.
